Like a radio announcer during a baseball game, audio description provides accessibility for blind and low vision audiences, so they can better enjoy television shows and movies. Hundreds of movies and network and streaming series provide audio description tracks. The skills of audiobook narration, promo work, and strong acting contribute to excellence in quality audio description narration. This class introduces audio description, provides workout experience to picture, shares valuable insights into the needs of various players in the game, discusses how to best advocate for disabled audiences, and how to support other narrators.
Roy Samuelson has recorded over 350 network television shows and first run feature releases, including Hobbs and Show, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Jordan Peele’s US, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Bosch (on Amazon), as well as multiple seasons of Criminal Minds and NCIS. He is passionate about this work, and actively engages with all those involved in the creation and production of audio description, and most importantly advocates for the blind and low vision community.
